Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara – Big Five and Iconic Wildlife
Begin your adventure with an early morning departure from Nairobi to the Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya’s premier safari destination. After arriving, enjoy lunch at your selected lodge or camp. The afternoon will be spent on your first thrilling game drive in the Masai Mara, exploring the park’s vast plains, which are home to an abundance of wildlife, including lions, elephants, zebras, and giraffes. Depending on the season, you may also have the opportunity to witness the Great Migration. Dinner and overnight at a luxury camp or a standard lodge within the reserve.
Day 2: Masai Mara – Full Day Game Drive and Cultural Experience
After breakfast, embark on a full-day game drive in the Masai Mara, where you’ll explore the reserve’s expansive terrain, spot predators like lions, cheetahs, and leopards, and marvel at the diversity of herbivores. Visit the Mara River to witness crocodiles, hippos, and, if you’re lucky, the iconic river crossings during migration season. If time allows, visit a Maasai village to learn about the local Maasai people’s culture and way of life. Return to your lodge or camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru – Flamingos and Wildlife Sanctuary
After breakfast, depart Masai Mara for Lake Nakuru National Park, famous for its vibrant flamingo population and rich wildlife. On the way, enjoy the scenic drive through Kenya’s beautiful countryside. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch before heading out for an afternoon game drive. Lake Nakuru is a bird lover’s paradise, with thousands of flamingos lining the shores, and it also hosts endangered species such as black and white rhinos. Other wildlife includes lions, leopards, giraffes, and baboons. Overnight at a lodge with a view of the lake or a standard camp within the park.
Day 4: Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha – Scenic Views and Boat Ride
After breakfast, take a morning game drive to capture more wildlife moments at Lake Nakuru. You’ll then depart for Lake Naivasha, a freshwater lake situated in the Great Rift Valley. Arrive in time for lunch at your lakeside lodge or camp. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat ride on the lake, where you can spot hippos, various bird species like herons and kingfishers, and enjoy the serenity of the area. You may also visit Crescent Island, home to wild animals like giraffes and antelopes, which can be viewed on foot. Overnight at a luxury lodge or a standard camp by the lakeside.
Day 5: Lake Naivasha to Nairobi – Departure
After breakfast, you have the option of a morning walk or nature hike in the area, or simply enjoy the beautiful views. Later, return to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon to end your safari experience.
